The person in this position is responsible for the oversite of Shelter Operations at various locations throughout Lake County.
Also, including the hiring, scheduling and supervision of shelter Client Service Aids.
The Assoc.
Director of Shetler is expected to exhibit best practices in the execution of Client Service Aid's trainings, responsibilities, and communication to management of all concerns that impact the Client Service Aid team.
Additionally, the person in this position is responsible for providing staff support, facility monitoring and direct client care to clients in our shelter program by performing the direct service tasks necessary for PADS operations including the transportation of clients, managing donations, distributing supplies and monitoring PADS' facilities.
This position supports our philosophies of harm reduction, housing first, and client centered treatment to ensure that clients in shelter are safe and that their path to housing is supported while in PADS programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Oversee operations at designated shelter sites Ensure Client Service Aids follow PADS policies and procedures.
Manage the schedule of Client Service Aids at hotels ensuring adequate coverage of shifts.
Monitor the performance of Client Service Aids, complete and monitor staff evaluations and supervisions, hire, support, and discipline as needed.
Ensure accurate time sheets.
Ensure that clients at the hotels are educated on basic shelter operations and expectations.
Ensure resources are available to provide for client's basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, safety, and case management at all hotels.
Delivering written communication to clients as needed and facilitating client hotel discharges under the direction of the Director of Programs.
Work on-site with Client Service Aids to provide timely training and support.
Work with volunteers who provide donations of time and resources and ensure they are comfortable, shown appreciation and that the resources they supply are effectively utilized.
Oversee and execute the documentation of significant events such as room checks and incidents.
Provide clients with the opportunity to resolve issues prior to them being asked to leave through training and coordination with that client's program staff.
Work with clients leaving the hotels to ensure the rooms are in reasonable condition prior to the hotel staff turning over the room.
Communicate with management when issues regarding the Client Service Aids team arise and participate in problem solving with management to ensure the best possible outcome for PADS clients.
Ensure that hotel rooms are ready for clients before they arrive.
Provide an atmosphere of customer service that ensures clients, donors, volunteers, and outside agencies are treated in a friendly and respectful manner.
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and the implementation of principles of housing first, harm reduction, and trauma informed care.
Maintain effective communication with other staff members.

Manage client conflicts using crisis management and harm reduction principles.
Monitor client behavior and provide feedback/consequences as necessary and report issues in a timely and clear manner to management.
When working at hotels, serve as the on-site staff member to assist hotel staff in any client issues that may arise.
Maintain a clean and safe environment.
Ensure professionalism is demonstrated with respect to identifying/responding to client needs, maintenance of confidentiality and demonstrated awareness of boundaries.
Communicate and enforce agency expectations clearly, consistently, and calmly.
Ensure a safe environment by responding to or directing others to respond to disruptive clients and/or emergency situations promptly and resolving issues in an efficient and professional manner.
Assist clients with immediate needs such as filling out job applications, benefit applications, or providing resources in the community.
Gathering information and addressing behavior issues from the previous night.
General Serve as a resource to the Client Service Aids team to answer job related questions and provide support for difficult to manage Client Service Aids tasks Ensure that staff hotel rooms are adequately stocked with essential items such as hygiene supplies, office supplies, and non-perishable food.
Serve as trainer to new Client Service Aids.
Generate daily reports and submit follow-up documentation to management regarding client issues.
Complete accurate and timely data entry as instructed or as defined by program guidelines.
Perform duties/responsibilities necessary to support the programs and clients.
Ensure adherence to professional standards as outlined by governmental bodies and organizations, including but not limited to, National Association of Social Workers, American psychiatric Nurses Association, American Psychiatric Association, Illinois Alcohol & Addictions Certification Board, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act, etc.
Acquire and utilize knowledge of HMIS/Service Point data base, word processing software, and Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar.
Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and seminars to facilitate professional growth.
Comply with PADS Lake County policies as detailed in personnel handbook Demonstrate the ability to work in a demanding environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously when necessary.

Advanced education may be substituted for experience; experience working with a homeless population preferred Valid Illinois driver's license with a clean record.
